Mermaid Torso

So I have been working on the torso but I used way to many polys so I am currently reducing the number. I am removing the belly button entirely and I plan to texture it on later in the process.

Mermaid Face

So I started my mermaid character and thus far I had to make the face and jaw line more squared off to match my concept drawing. I dont have a lot of polys so I plan to do something different with the hair.

Oval face
So I am hitting Midterm review and this is what I presenting for it. I talked with my mentor and some more work will have to be put into its textures and bump maps. I will also be taking out the matte painting I put in the background since it takes attention away from the seahorse model. I plan to also try a new light system that I hope will help bring out the depth of the model.

Bump Maps

Here is my bump maps for the seahorse character. Since I picked a seahorse that did not have a lot of ridges I decided to go with a more rough appearance like you would see on coral.

Textures

I had to decide on a color for this character and my mentor Bil was right I really should have done a color test board earlier. But I checked out a lot of different reall Seahorse colors and decided to follow the one shown below.

Seahorse Wings

I was working on the back main fins (wings) for the seahorse and I may try to use an opacity map or bump map to give them more design. I have tried two different types of wing styles but so far this is the one I am sticking with.

Beginning Unwrap

So I have finished the modeling process for the most part. I am now placing the checker pattern onto the Seahorse to start out my uvw files. Currently I am having some difficulties with unwraping the Seahorse body because I dont want to end up with seams in my texture.

Okay I have been a busy little bee and I have now some renders of the first modeling process of the seahorse character. I am really excited to see this project finished. My mentor, Bil has been very helpful and gave me a lot of information to process but I know I can do this. Thanks

Character Sketch's - Layla & Nayla

I have worked on the final sketches of my two characters and plan on modeling them. I have started some base modeling. I have not yet decided on if I will use the traditional human hands or fins for the mermaid character.
